(3) Rosalie Mera–Zara
Ms. Mera was one of the wealthiest self-made women in the world before she passed in 2013. She quit school at the age of 11 to become a seamstress. In the 1970s, she sounded the Zara retail chain with her husband. Over the years, her hard work helped the company boom. In later life, she invested and pushed causes that were near and dear to her heart. Paideia Foundation founded my Ms. Mera, helped people with physical and mental disabilities fit into society. She also was significant for pushing causes such as a company that looked for cancer treatments in the ocean. At the time of her death, Ms. Mera was worth just over $6 billion.
Also, on the political front, Ms. Mera persevered for the rights of women. She opposed legislation from the conservative government to make abortion more restrictive and she worked hard to expand the rights of women in her home country Spain.
